Are you an aspiring screenwriter who would love to have your script made into a short film? Are you a Canadian Citizen or a Canadian Permanent Resident?

Moonrise Productions is proud to announce the Third Annual Script-to-Screen Incubator project. This project offers aspiring screenwriters the opportunity to submit their short film scripts for development and production of their scripts.

The unproduced screenwriter whose script is selected will gain experience developing it and working with Producers and a Director. The Incubator also allows screenwriters to gain first-hand experience in the production process, from the script to the screen stages.
Date for submissions: April 1st to April 30th, 2024, at 11:59pm

Length of the script: The script must be a maximum of five pages (5 minutes).

Who is eligible to submit: Any Canadian screenwriter with no previous credit as a screenwriter. (student-produced projects don’t count).

Awards & Prizes

All submitted scripts will receive written feedback from our jury members.

Scripts chosen will work with the Director to develop the script for shooting.
Each project will have a shooting budget of up to $5,000. The budget includes film festival submissions.

Rules & Terms

INCUBATOR SCRIPT-TO-SCREEN COMPETITION
Please read this agreement carefully before you submit your film. By submitting your film, you expressly acknowledge and agree to be bound by its terms.

ELIGIBILITY
The Incubator Project is open to all Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents. Please provide your CAVCO Personnel Number. To obtain your CAVCO number, go to: https://www.canada.ca/en/canadian-heritage/services/funding/cavco-tax-credits/personnel-number.html

GUIDELINES FOR ALL SCRIPTS
Scripts must be a maximum of five pages long, excluding the cover page. Screenplays written in French can be submitted. Each script must be submitted separately.

ENTRY FORM AND PREVIEW MATERIALS FOR ALL FILMS
Screenplays must be formatted in standard screenwriting style, exported as an Adobe Acrobat PDF and uploaded with your online application. Incomplete applications, failure to include payment, or submitting materials we cannot read will disqualify your entry. Submissions may not be withdrawn from the Festival once they have been entered, except at the sole discretion of the Festival directors. There are no refunds for entries with incomplete entry forms or incorrectly formatted scripts.

REVIEW AND SELECTION PROCESS
We will review scripts in their entirety. Members of the Selection Committee, a volunteer group of Ottawa area filmmakers, will read and review the scripts.

PRODUCER RIGHTS
Moonrise Productions retains the rights as a producer and owner of the film.

COMMUNICATIONS
Moonrise Productions does not send physical mail. Please make sure the email address in your entry form is accurate. Changes to email addresses can be sent to lmiller@moonriseproductions.ca. Moonrise Productions is not liable for emails delayed by spam filters, server rejections, outdated email addresses or any other technical or human error.

PUBLICITY AND MARKETING
All selected films and scripts may be excerpted for publicity purposes. Moonrise Productions reserves the right to promote any film or script to print, broadcast or internet media as required to market the Incubator Project or our parent organization.
